Vienna, April 26, 2024 – Kwizda Agro seized the opportunity of Vienna's Daughter's Day on April 25 to give female students a behind-the-scenes look at crop protection. Girls aged 14 to 18 enjoyed a varied day at both the headquarters in Vienna and the Leobendorf plant. They gained insights into the challenges of agriculture, approaches to crop protection, and the research, development, and production of biological crop protection products

This year, nine girls accepted Kwizda Agro's invitation to Daughter's Day. The company took the interested young women under its wing for a day, showcasing the exciting world of crop protection through an engaging program. "Girls are still underrepresented in scientific and technical professions. Daughter's Day offers a wonderful opportunity to provide students from Vienna, Lower Austria, and Burgenland with a hands-on experience day, demonstrating how exciting and diverse the activities and career opportunities in STEM fields are," explained Ronald Hamedl, Managing Director of Kwizda Agro.

The international crop protection manufacturer offered the students a varied program. Together, they explored the significance of agriculture for food security and the contributions of crop protection. After a glimpse into the training program for young talents, the girls took the opportunity to ask numerous questions to colleagues from research, development, registration, consulting, and asset management at Kwizda Agro. Important future topics like sustainability and the central role of digitalization in agriculture were also covered. The girls were particularly engaged in experimenting in the laboratory, participating enthusiastically in the experiments Kwizda Agro had prepared. The highlight of the day was the graffiti station, where the girls expressed their visions of "Future Agriculture" on a canvas. Knowing that their artwork would later be turned into bags by tag.werk, a Caritas employment project for socially disadvantaged youth, truly inspired the young artists.

Kwizda Agro supports the goal of Daughter's Day to introduce female students to careers in technology, digitalization, crafts, and science, thereby broadening their career choices. "Young people, especially girls, are often unaware of the professional opportunities and growth prospects in the STEM fields. Companies also have a role to play in educating and sparking interest," Ronald Hamedl from Kwizda Agro expressed his enthusiasm for the initiative. "We at Kwizda Agro thoroughly enjoyed presenting the versatile career perspectives and our internationality as an employer. We look forward to doing this again on Boys Day in the fall."

The enthusiasm with which the girls participated in the Daughter's Day program at Kwizda Agro demonstrated how well girls and technical professions go together. It appears that interest in technical education has indeed been sparked.
